The Opportunity:

Vital Energi Utilities Limited (VEUL) is one of the UK’s market leaders in delivering centralised community energy projects. As a result of our continuing success we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth in all business sectors; as such we have an exceptional opportunity for a Metering and Billing Technician based across Yorkshire with responsibility for providing on-site installation support for metering and billing projects. No previous metering experience is necessary as full training will be provided.

We operate in a rapidly expanding vibrant market for Heat and Power solutions. We design, install, operate, maintain and own environmentally friendly energy generation; and distribution systems.

The Role:

Reporting to the Metering & Billing Resource Manager, you will:

  • Install metering equipment as per manufacturers, company and industry guidelines and to a high quality standard
  • Meet daily install targets 
  • Commission and maintain metering equipment and Hydraulic Interface Units as well as resolving any identified issues with existing installed equipment
  • Provide front-line support to customers and clients; responding to call-outs to identify and resolve faults in a professional manner
  • Carry out on site audits and meter reading tours to ensure that equipment is operating as per design
  • Complete relevant company documentation as required and in accordance with the company’s quality assurance procedure
  • Monitor equipment stock levels and replenish when required
  • Conduct site surveys for new installations
  • Work in a safe manner and in accordance with the company’s Health & Safety policy

The role will be mainly site based in Leeds but travel to other parts of the UK may be required. You will also be required to actively take part in the callout / standby rota. A full UK driving licence; a willingness to work away from home combined with a flexible approach to working practices and hours is therefore essential.

The Person:

You will be:

  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of domestic electrical and plumbing principles
  • Good at problem solving
  • Customer focused
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels; and to work to deadlines with minimum supervision
  • IT literate with experience in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Hold an electrical qualification, NVQ or equivalent preferred but not essential
  • Hold a current CSCS card - preffered but not essential
